Bed Bug Treatment — Prep Checklist

Completing this prep is required for the treatment to work. Incomplete prep may delay service and could void any guarantee. It is normal to still see live bed bugs for up to about 2 weeks after the first service — this does not mean the treatment failed.

Bedding & textiles (collect → launder → bag)

  • Strip all sheets, pillowcases, comforters, and bed skirts.
  • Gather curtains, towels, soft toys, and loose clothing within about 5 ft of the bed.
  • Wash in the hottest water available and dry on high heat for at least 30 minutes ({threshold}).
  • Store laundered items in sealed, insect-proof bags — NOT loose trash bags.
  • Keep laundered items out of the treatment area until after service.

Furniture & clutter

  • Empty dressers and nightstands.
  • Declutter under beds and furniture.
  • Move all furniture at least 2 ft (about 0.6 m) off the walls to expose the baseboards.
  • Remove wall art and mirrors, but leave them in the room.

Electronics, outlets & access

  • Unplug electronics (they stay in the room).
  • Remove outlet, switch, and phone-jack cover plates so wall voids can be treated.
  • Pry baseboards only if the technician instructs you to.

Vacuuming

  • Vacuum the mattress, box spring, carpets, baseboards, and furniture crevices with a crevice tool.
  • Immediately seal the vacuum bag and dispose of it outside, or wash a canister in hot soapy water.

People, pets & re-entry

  • Everyone vacates the home during treatment.
  • {hours}
  • Open windows for 20–30 minutes when you re-enter.

After / between services

I confirm the above prep is complete.

How this template works

This is a fill-in handout, not a calculator — there is no formula and no computed result. Add your company and the appointment, toggle the rows that apply to this home, and the one-page prep sheet on the right updates live; print it or save it as a PDF, or copy it as text to email the customer.

The situational toggles (pets, fish aquarium, HVAC unit near the bed) add tailored rows that generic prep PDFs leave out. The re-entry window sets the "stay out of the home for N hours" line (typically 2–4). The °F / °C control reorders the laundry threshold; both units always print so the sheet is unambiguous (>140 °F (>60 °C), dry on high heat for at least 30 minutes).

A blank sheet prints just as cleanly as a filled one, so you can hand it to an occupant to read on paper. Nothing is stored — the logo, customer name, and appointment live only in your browser for this one session and are gone when you reload. The optional acknowledgment line is a courtesy "prep done" confirmation, not a legal attestation, and the sheet never promises guaranteed eradication — bed bugs routinely need a follow-up visit about 3–4 weeks later.
