How this is calculated

The chemical cost per 1,000 sq ft is jug economics crossed with your sprayer's turf bridge. Each product converts to a cost per fluid ounce (price ÷ jug size — the same driver Hillyard uses for cost per diluted gallon), then to a cost per tankful, then divided by the area one tankful treats. The tank-mix blend is the sum of each product's term.

  $/fl oz       = jug price / jug size (fl oz)
  $/tank        = $/fl oz × product fl oz per tank
  area/tank     = (tank gal / spray gal-per-1,000) × 1,000   (sq ft)
  $/1,000 sqft  = $/tank ÷ (area/tank ÷ 1,000)
              ( = $/tank × spray gal-per-1,000 / tank gal )   ← identical

blend + per-job:
  blended $/1,000 = Σ each product's $/1,000 sq ft
  total $/tank    = Σ each product's $/tank
  $/application   = blended $/1,000 × (lawn area / 1,000)
  tankfuls        = lawn area / area-per-tank   (a fraction, not rounded up)

Worked example: a $60, 320 fl oz jug at 6 fl oz per tank is $60 ÷ 320 = $0.1875/fl oz, 6 × $0.1875 = $1.125/tank. A 25-gal tank at 1 gal of mix per 1,000 sq ft covers (25 / 1) × 1,000 = 25,000 sq ft, so $1.125 ÷ 25 = $0.045 per 1,000 sq ft — and a 9,000 sq ft lawn costs 9 × $0.045 = $0.405 (displayed as $0.41) in chemical per application.

The Hillyard concentrate anchor it builds on: a $25, 1-gal (128 fl oz) container is $25 ÷ 128 = $0.1953/fl oz; at a 1:64 dilution that yields 65 diluted gallons, so $25 ÷ 65 = $0.38 per diluted gallon. This tool divides by area covered per tank instead, to land on $/1,000 sq ft rather than $/diluted gallon.
