Tree Removal Cost Estimator

Estimate a tree removal cost range from height, trunk diameter, species, access, and condition — itemized base, diameter step-up, access and condition surcharges, and editable add-ons. No email.

Tree size
Height input

Arborist size bands. Pick the closest if you can't measure.

Width at about chest height (4.5 ft) — the arborist standard.

Number of similar trees to remove.

Hardwoods cost a touch more; palms and fruit trees a touch less. Editable convention.

How this is calculated

The headline is a low–high range. We build a point estimate with a transparent additive model, then show it as a band (point × [0.85, 1.20]) because on-site reality moves the real number around.

base       = sizeBase[bracket] × speciesFactor
diameter   = max(0, trunkIn − baseline) × $/in
access     = (accessMult     − 1) × base
condition  = (conditionFactor − 1) × base
addOns = sum of ticked flat fees
perTree    = base + diameter + access + condition + addOns
point      = perTree × region × treeCount
range      = point × [0.85, 1.20]

Size bands (Small <25 ft, Medium 25–60, Large 60–80, X-Large 80+) and the additive model with its worked example come from Acres-Per-Hour; the six flat add-on fees (stump grinding $125, root removal $250, wood chipping $100, log removal $200, complete cleanup $150, permit $100) come from LandscapioAI. Access multipliers (1.0 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2.0) and condition factors (1.0 / 1.10 / 1.15 / 1.25) are pinned, editable-style conventions — incumbents disagree on the exact numbers, so treat them as adjustable, not law.

The per-foot effective rate (point ÷ (height × treeCount), a per-tree-equivalent figure) is shown only as a cross-check against the $8–$15/ft rule of thumb for standard trees — it never feeds the price.

No ZIP lookup. The regional multiplier is a slider you set yourself (0.8–1.4×), not a live location feed. Nothing is stored; there's no account or email gate.

Removals rarely arrive alone on a property. Lighter woody work stays on its own line with what to charge for hedge and shrub trimming, the debris and bed work that follows a removal is priced by the spring cleanup calculator, and when the removal is one item in a larger landscape proposal, the landscaping estimate and bid template puts it beside the rest of the scope. Access and tree condition are priced here because they are also the conditions that hurt people, so the drop zone, the gear and the protective equipment are worth walking through on a written job site safety walk before the saws come out.
